Kid Builders

Fun ways to help your child grow

Kid Builders helps your child grow in six areas: their mind, words, body, relationships, safety and health. You know your child best, so pick their age and start playing.

Your baby grows so fast. Babies learn about the world by playing, and you are their first playmate!

Mind Builders

Build your child's brain power and help them learn to solve problems.

Word Builders

Help your child communicate through pictures, sounds, and words.

Body Builders

Use large and small muscles to move and grow a healthy body.

Relationship Builders

Develop a positive view of themselves and learn to play with others.

Safety Builders

Ideas to help your child grow up safely.

Health Builders

Healthy habits like brushing teeth, eating well, and sleep routines.

This week's Word Builders for babies

Birth to 3 months

Listen to Me Talk!

Talk to your baby about what you see and do: "I see a dog. The dog is black. The dog says 'woof-woof!'" This is called self-talk, and it helps your baby learn about the world.

4 to 6 months

Giggles Galore!

Play peek-a-boo. Cover your face, then uncover it with a big smile. Pause to see if your baby giggles. It helps your baby learn how actions cause reactions.

4 to 6 months

Sing My Name!

Say your baby's name often in a fun, loving way, and celebrate any response. Hearing it often helps your baby learn their name.

7 to 9 months

Watch Me Babble!

Repeat your baby's sounds and add simple words: "Bababa, Ball!" Then pause for a reply. It teaches how conversations work.

Design note ยท An age-first tab pattern: one tap from 'my child is two' to activities, where today it takes four page loads through the Baby / 1 Year / 2 Years hierarchy. The tabs follow the WAI-ARIA tabs pattern and work with a keyboard.

Speech and language

Your child's words matter. Whether your child is right on track with speech milestones or still working toward them, simple everyday activities support their language and communication skills.

Is my child on track?

If you're curious how your child is developing and what to expect at their age, the CDC publishes milestones for children from 2 months to 5 years, and your child's well-child visits include developmental screenings.
